
SCMS Cochin School of Business, in association with IQAC, organized an engaging session under its Alumni Reflections series titled “Professional Culture and Career Growth in the Fast-Changing Finance Ecosystem” on 6th August 2025. The keynote speaker, Mr. Guhan R., Group Vice President at Bank ABC, Bahrain and an alumnus from PGDM Batch 8, shared valuable insights into the evolving finance industry. He explored the shift from traditional banking to digital platforms, the growing role of automation and AI, and how fintech innovations are transforming customer experience, operational efficiency, and risk management practices.
Drawing from his vast experience in corporate credit and international banking, Mr. Guhan offered students a comprehensive understanding of credit risk assessment, compliance protocols, and the importance of relationship-based selling. He emphasized the significance of professional excellence, visibility, and continuous learning, recommending certifications like FRM for career advancement. His comparative analysis of the Indian and UAE banking systems, along with future trends in AI and risk analytics, provided students with a global perspective and a deeper appreciation of the skills needed to thrive in the modern financial ecosystem.
