Beyond the Classroom:
A Glimpse into Student Club Activities (2024-2025)
As part of the continuous efforts to ensure holistic development and to foster creativity, collaboration, and leadership skills among students, several co-curricular club activities were organized over the past three terms. Each club activity was coordinated by respective faculty and student coordinators, and the participation and enthusiasm shown have been commendable. Below is a detailed report of each club activity conducted:
1. MUSIC CLUB ACTIVITY
The Music Club marked the beginning of the club activities for Batch 33. As it was the very first such session for the batch, it provided an excellent opportunity for students to break the ice and interact with one another, especially during the initial days of the academic term. Students were divided into groups based on their mentor groups, and each group was assigned the same set of lyrics. The task was to compose and add music to those lyrics in a creative manner. The activity encouraged teamwork, musical expression, and innovation. The most outstanding composition was selected for recording. The event was vibrant, enjoyable, and set a positive tone for the forthcoming activities.

2. DANCE CLUB ACTIVITY
The Dance Club activity was organized as a fun and energetic platform for students to showcase their dancing talents. Students were divided into groups at random and given a song to choreograph and perform. Each team was given sufficient time to prepare their performance. The event culminated in on-stage performances by each group. The activity fostered team coordination, creativity in choreography, and stage confidence. It was well-received by all participants and successfully promoted cultural engagement.

3. Movie Club Activities
The Movie Club hosted three separate sessions over the course of the terms:
Session 1: Students were divided into groups and tasked with designing a logo for the Movie Club. This activity allowed them to blend creativity with branding concepts, and several innovative logos were submitted.
Session 2: In observance of World Alzheimer’s Day, a screening of “Innaleyolam” was organized. The film, directed by Dr. Krishnabhaskar Mangalasserri, Professor – Department of Marketing, SCMS, provided a profound and emotional insight into Alzheimer’s disease. The movie left a lasting impact on the students and opened up meaningful discussions about memory loss and caregiving.
Session 3: In a lighter, interactive session, humorous scenes from popular Malayalam films were screened. Students were randomly selected to enact these scenes on stage, adding elements of spontaneity, humour, and performance.
CLUB ACTIVITY
The Health Club focused on promoting physical wellness and fitness among students. A Zumba session was conducted where instructional videos were played, and students followed the moves collectively. The session was then extended to an outdoor activity near the auditorium, where students formed a large circle and performed basic exercises and jogging routines. This initiative emphasized the importance of regular exercise and group fitness in a lively and enjoyable manner.
5. ENVIRONMENT CLUB ACTIVITY
Under the Environment Club, students were encouraged to express their thoughts and ideas about environmental preservation through various creative formats. Each group prepared a short presentation– which could be a skit, musical performance, dance, or presentation – centred around the theme of nature and environmental awareness. The submissions were thoughtful, engaging, and reflected the students’ understanding of ecological concerns. The activity aimed to instil a sense of responsibility and consciousness about environmental issues among the participants.
6. SPORTS CLUB ACTIVITY
The Sports Club facilitated an inclusive and energetic environment through a variety of indoor and outdoor games. Students actively participated in indoor games such as carrom, chess, and table tennis, while outdoor events included basketball and other team sports. The objective was to foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical well-being. The activity received enthusiastic participation and helped in strengthening peer relationships through friendly competition.
7. FASHION CLUB ACTIVITY
The Fashion Club event provided students an opportunity to explore fashion, confidence, and self-expression. Students were grouped and given a task to prepare for a themed ramp walk. Each group was allotted time to organize and design their walk, and a representative from each group performed the ramp walk. The event witnessed innovative themes and styling choices, showcasing the students’ flair for fashion and presentation.
8. TRADING CLUB ACTIVITY
The Trading Club session was designed to introduce students to the basics of stock trading and investment planning. The session commenced with an informative video that provided foundational knowledge about the stock market and investment strategies. Students were then grouped and given a hypothetical fund. Each group had to plan and present their investment strategy, detailing how they would allocate their funds, sectors they would invest in, and how they intended to maximize returns. The activity was both insightful and intellectually stimulating, offering practical exposure to financial decision-making.
