NIPM Student Chapter of SCMS Cochin School of Business

The NIPM Student Chapter of SCMS Cochin School of Business, in association with IQAC, organized a seminar titled “Performance Management Unplugged: From Theory to Reality” on 16 February 2026. The session was conducted by Ms. Remya Ravi, Senior Performance Management Specialist at Ideals Solutions, and witnessed the participation of 67 students. The objective of the seminar was to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts of performance management and their practical application in modern organizations.
The resource person explained the evolution of performance management from traditional annual appraisal systems to continuous, feedback-driven models. Key themes included goal alignment through KPIs and KRAs, competency mapping, continuous coaching and feedback, handling appraisal bias, and the growing role of HR technology and analytics in performance tracking. Real corporate examples and case scenarios helped students understand how fair and transparent evaluation systems are designed and implemented.
An interactive Q&A segment enabled participants to clarify practical doubts related to HR careers, internships, and workplace performance discussions. Feedback collected after the session indicated a highly positive response, with students reporting improved conceptual clarity, greater awareness of practical methods, and increased confidence in handling performance-related decisions. Overall, the seminar was engaging, practical, and highly beneficial for students’ academic and professional development.
