Inauguration of Bodhi - Talk series on Indian Ethos in Management

SCMS Cochin School of Business would like to initiate a new knowledge series on ‘Indian Ethos in Management”. This series aims to narrate applications of principles of management as revealed in our ancient wisdom brought forth in our sacred books like ‘Gita’, ’Upanishads’, ‘Bible’ and ‘Quran’ to the future generation. We wish to start addressing our own students, belonging to different streams under our group of institutions. We believe that this session packed with scientific, spiritual domain of Indian Knowledge System will definitely help our students develop a connect to our rich Indian heritage. It will also help to inculcate the basic attitude and aptitude like resilience, motivation and ever widening sense of commitment to ethics and ethos.

In alignment with the above thought, Department of General Management, SCMS Cochin School of Business, intends to conduct monthly Talk Series, ‘Bodhi’ on Indian Ethos in Management. The talk aims to bring in eminent resource persons who have made their mark in the study of Indian Knowledge Systems in management perspective. The target audience for Bodhi will be the students and Faculty members of all the institutions of SCMS Group. We ensure the social media presence of Bodhi series talks through video content shared in the official YouTube page of SCMS Cochin School of Business. The video link will be shared in the website of SCMS Cochin School of Business. The Campus Coordinators of the programme in different campuses should ensure that the programme is aired live in respective campuses, to an audience of minimum of five students from each batch, according to the course structure.

The inauguration of Bodhi is scheduled in the Seminar Hall, Muttom Campus, on 30th of January, 2024 at 10.00am. Our Chief Guest for the inauguration is Dr. N. JayasankaranNatesaAyyar, Former Vice Chancellor, Kanchi University.

Second Session

In a bid to integrate ancient wisdom with modern management practices, SCMS Cochin School of Business organized the second session in its new knowledge series, ‘BODHI,’ focusing on Indian Ethos in Management. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between traditional values and contemporary business strategies, drawing inspiration from sacred texts such as the ‘Gita,’ ‘Upanishads,’ ‘Bible,’ and ‘Quran.’ Keynote speaker Dr. P. Balasubramanian, Vice Principal and assistant Professor(Selection Grade, Chairman, Board of Studies in Commerce, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham delivered an enlightening address, highlighting the relevance of ancient wisdom in navigating contemporary challenges on 29th February 2024. Third Session

Fourth Session

The fourth session of the Bodhi Talk Series at SCMS Cochin School of Business featured an enriching discussion led by Shri Subramanian Chidambaram, Chief Strategy Officer of Cummins India, on the topic Management Principles in Ancient Indic Texts. Held online on 9th July 2024, the session attracted students and faculty from across the SCMS Group, delving into the timeless relevance of Indian ethos in modern management. Shri Chidambaram explored foundational values from ancient Indic texts—such as integrity, empathy, and balance—emphasizing their role in shaping ethical and sustainable leadership today. He illustrated how principles from the Arthashastra, focusing on strategic foresight and adaptability, provide valuable insights for navigating corporate challenges. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants discussed the application of these ancient wisdoms to real-world scenarios, sparking meaningful engagement. Fifth Session

The fifth session of the Bodhi Talk Series on Indian Ethos in Management was held online on 30th September 2024, organized by the Department of General Management at SCMS Cochin School of Business. This engaging session featured Ms. Geetha Tripathi, Professor of Practice at Amrita Vishwavidyapeetham and former Senior Consultant at the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India. Her talk, titled Building Ethos in Management in the Era of Technological Innovation through Indian Poetic Wisdom, captivated an audience of students and faculty members across the SCMS Group.
