Experiential Learning: Retail Operations in Practice
Batch 33 students of the Retail Operations elective engaged in an immersive experiential learning activity, where they were placed across 12 retail stores in the city. This hands-on exposure enabled students to move beyond classroom theory and engage directly with real-world retail environments.
During this activity, students systematically captured and analyzed key store performance metrics, including sales flow, customer engagement, inventory movement, visual merchandising, and operational efficiency. These insights were then mapped against concepts discussed in class, allowing students to apply, test, and validate theoretical frameworks in live business settings.
The experiential exercise strengthened students’ analytical abilities, sharpened their understanding of retail dynamics, and enhanced decision-making skills—bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practice.
